DAFYDD LLWYD ap DAFYDD ab EINION ap HYWEL, of Newtown, Montgomeryshire (died before 1469), a prominent figure in Cydewain and a generous patron of the 15th century bards

He traced his ancestry to Elstan Glodrydd; one of his forebears migrated from Cefnllys to Mochdre, and his father settled at Newtown. His praises were sung by Lewis Glyn Cothi, Llawdden, and Guto'r Glyn, who laid stress on the wealth of his entertainment and on his generosity towards the bards. It appears that Hywel Swrdwal was his household bard, and that he died shortly before his patron. His wife was Gwenllian, daughter of Meredith ab Owen ap Griffith ab Einion, lord of Towyn. They had two sons and a daughter, Rhys, Robert, and Ellen.

RHYS AP DAFYDD LLWYD (died 1469)

He was an esquire of the body to Edward IV and his steward in Cydewain, Kerry, Cyfeiliog, and Arwystli. He was also governor of Montgomery castle. He was lost in the battle of Danesmore or Banbury, 1469. An elegy by Dafydd Llwyd ap Llewelyn ap Gruffudd suggests that there was much uncertainty about his fate after the battle. The Pryce family of Newtown derived their surname from this Rhys's christian name. His wife was Margaret, daughter of Ieuan ab Owen ap Meredith, of Neuadd-wen.
