Born 2 June 1814 at Abercegir (between Machynlleth and Darowen). After being a salaried preacher at Aberystwyth he was admitted to the ministry in 1835 and became a student at the Hoxton Theological Institute (1836-8). He served as a minister in the Swansea (1838), Mold (1840), Manchester (1841), and Llanidloes (1844) circuits. During the course of his term at Llanidloes he was the supervisor of the connexional bookroom (1844) and editor of the Eurgrawn Wesleyaidd (1845-6).
He was for years a sick man; his health first broke down while he was at Hoxton, and when his term at Manchester ended he was compelled to retire from the regular ministry for a year (1843). This happened again when his term at Llanidloes was completed (August 1847). In 1841 he married Elizabeth Williams of Aberystwyth, and by her had a son and a daughter. He published Duwdod Priodol ein Harglwydd Iesu Grist (1840) to counteract Unitarian tendencies among the Wesleyans of Swansea; an article on original sin written by him was published in the Eurgrawn of 1855. He died at Aberystwyth 12 September 1847.
