Born in 1758, he lived at Y Ffos, Llanwrtyd, Brecknock. His parents were Baptists, but he joined the Methodists in 1775 and was baptized at Llangeitho by Daniel Rowland. He began to preach in 1778, but was never in the front rank of preachers. He was the means of getting land on which to build many chapels in Brecknock. He was selected by his county to be ordained, as representing it, at the first Methodist ordination service at Llandilo, 1811. He died 22 August 1828 and was buried at Llanwrtyd.
