After the death of John Parry (1710? - 1782) he was appointed family harpist at Wynnstay, the residence of the Williams Wynn family. Thomas Edwards (Twm o'r Nant) refers to his skill. His name appears as a subscriber to Edward Jones, Musical and Poetical Relicks of the Welsh Bards, as ' Mr. Evan Evans, Telynwr, Wynstay.' It is thought that he died at Wynnstay.
