The son of Timothy Jehu of the King's Head, Meifod, Montgomeryshire, he was attracted to religion at the age of 16, and commenced preaching. Offering himself for the mission field, he was educated at the Wesleyan Theological Institution, Hoxton, London, and in 1839 he was accepted by the Conference to fill a vacancy in Sierra Leone. Smitten down by malignant fever, he lingered for a long while. Having laboured only six months in Africa, he died 1 July 1840.
