Son of Ieuan ap Gruffudd Leiaf of Denbighshire, and a descendant of Owain Gwynedd (Peniarth MS 127 (20)). No details regarding his life are known, but a number of his poems remain in manuscript. These include two religious poems, one being a confession and the other a poem on the vernicle, a poem in praise of Richard Kyffin, dean of Bangor, a love poem, and another to the owl. (The last one is attributed in various other manuscripts to Dafydd ap Gwilym, and also to Robert Leiaf, a relative of Syr Siôn).
