son of William Hughes, harpist, Llansantffraed, Montgomeryshire ' Eos Maldwyn ' won a valuable harp at one of the eisteddfodau organised by Cymreigyddion y Fenni (Abergavenny). He died of tuberculosis in Liverpool, 9 December 1862.
